Welcome to WalkieTalk Offline (operated via walkietalkoffline.com and the WalkieTalk Offline mobile application). We believe that private communication should remain strictly private. This Privacy Policy details our explicit data handling practices when you use our website and mobile application.

2. Zero Data Collection Principle

WalkieTalk Offline is engineered from the ground up as a decentralized, peer-to-peer local network voice communication utility:

• No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect names, email addresses (unless you contact support voluntarily), phone numbers, contacts, or hardware identifiers.
• No Voice Recording or Uploads: Audio signals transmitted over Push-to-Talk are streamed directly between devices on your local Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot using real-time UDP sockets. Audio is never stored on a server or recorded.
• No Cloud Infrastructure for Voice: Transmissions never leave your local network boundary. Zero servers receive your voice data.
• No Tracking or Analytics: We do not deploy third-party behavior tracking SDKs within the application.

3. Device Permissions & Technical Purpose

To enable local walkie-talkie communication without an internet connection, the Android application requests specific system permissions:

• Microphone Permission (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): Required strictly to capture live voice audio while you hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button. Audio is encoded and streamed directly across local sockets and released immediately.
• Nearby Devices / Wi-Fi State (android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE): Required to initiate Network Service Discovery (NSD) / mDNS so active phones on the same local subnet can detect one another automatically.
• Foreground Service (android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CONNECTED_DEVICE): Required so the background listener socket remains responsive to incoming calls when your screen is locked or the app is minimized.
• Notifications (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Allows the app to display a persistent background service notification, required by modern Android OS versions to maintain socket connections.

4. Local Network Isolation

Because communication operates entirely within your local subnet (Local Area Network or Wi-Fi hotspot), your communications are subject only to the security settings of your local network environment. We recommend setting a secure WPA2/WPA3 password on your Wi-Fi hotspot or router.

5. Third-Party In-App Billing

Optional premium features or donations within the Android application are processed securely through the standard Google Play In-App Billing system. We do not receive, store, or process credit card numbers or banking data. Google handles all financial transaction processing according to Google Play terms and policies.
